We were very fortunate to have IBM visit the school today to deliver a Professional Skills workshop to all our Year 10 students.
Each tutor group benefitted from IBM professionals sharing first hand their experiences of Further Education interviews, job interviews and delivering presentations in a professional environment. They highlighted the importance of presenting skills/nonverbal communication skills to get them one step ahead of their peers. They learnt how to be aware of their body language, posture, eye contact, voice, appearance and facial expressions. This interactive session asked our Year 10s to consider examples of when nonverbal communication might be important to consider, for example, when delivering a presentation to ensure clarity and engagement with the audience.
The students then logged into SkillsBuild and worked on the Professional Skills badge which covers topics such as Present with Purpose and Manage your Nerves.
The workshop was well received by our students. Thank you IBM.
