Students from all schools in the Trust joined together at Ealing Fields CofE High School with members of the Nonesuch Orchestra for the Bi-Annual Trust Strings Day and created a mammoth string orchestra of 96 players!
We spent the day workshopping and rehearsing a specially composed piece ‘There was a Tree’ in the presence of the composer Tim Watts. We had the chance to really rehearse the piece and understand how it was composed, including learning to ‘walk’ in the rhythm of the irregular time signature 5/8!
In the afternoon we gave the world premiere performance of the piece to an audience of parents and Ealing Fields students.
Many students are joining the Nonesuch Orchestra to play ‘There was a Tree’ in a public concert on Sunday 8th March at St Peter’s Church Acton Green. All are welcome to join us and listen to this amazing work!
