What began seven months ago as a fun challenge has grown into a truly remarkable journey. When the tennis fixtures were first released, a group of then-Year 7 and 8 girls set out to enjoy the round robin matches and perhaps notch a few wins. Fast forward to today, and those same students—now in Years 8 and 9—have exceeded all expectations.
Not only did they top their group of seven teams without losing a single matchday, but they also went on to win their semifinal 12-0, not dropping a single set. In the regional final, they faced off against their fifth private school opponent, City of London School for Girls, and secured a decisive 8-4 victory.
Throughout their campaign, the team has shown extraordinary determination, humility, and teamwork. Perhaps most impressive of all is their attitude: win or lose (usually win), regardless of the score or the behaviour of their opponents, they always play with smiles on their faces and carry themselves with professionalism.
We now await news of their next opponents in a larger regional final. One thing is certain—the girls will continue to represent Ada with the same integrity, resilience, and pride that has defined their journey so far. Well done girls!
