We are celebrating the amazing work of Ada Lovelace and Twyford students who represented the Twyford CofE Academies Trust last week at the inaugural Festival of Flourishing in the Performing Arts as part of the National Society For Education National Conference - Class of 2040: Putting Young people at the centre!
Lori Jackson (Head of Music at Ada Lovelace) directed an Ada Lovelace/Twyford band who led 400+ headteachers in worship with professionalism and energy (feedback from several HeadTeachers who said they couldn’t believe how good they were), and Twyford's 'Sacred' choir took part in the festival itself, performing with nearly 300 young people from 11 schools over the country who came together to take part in workshops in gospel singing with Karen Gibson, drama workshops with the Royal Shakespeare Company in the morning before performing in the festival in the afternoon.
Seeing all 300 performers sing together “Yes you can do anything if you try” (led by Karen Gibson and Sacred on stage) to their Headteachers in the afternoon was an extremely special moment, and a testament to the importance of the creative arts in education.
